Championships notes: Lincoln (Pennsylvania) moved into a tie for the most team titles with Rowan and Wisconsin-La Crosse with five after capturing the 1999 championship. The Lions have won the indoor and outdoor track and field titles in the same year four times in the 1990s, and they have a chance to register their first sweep of the new millennium after posting a 19-point victory in the indoor meet in March. Dayne Ross and Chris Cobbs should lead Lincoln's effort. Ross won the 100-meter dash in 1999 and currently has the division's best times this year in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes. Cobbs is the defending champion in the 110-meter high hurdles and the holder of this season's best time thus far. North Central was second in the 2000 indoor championships and should be one of Lincoln's top challengers outdoors. The Cardinals, who won their third consecutive cross country title in the fall, will rely on their distance runners for the majority of their points. Ed Riegert and Tim McCoskey are Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, in the 1,500-meter run on the most recent performance list.
