The NCAA News

Sports sponsorship: The Western Maryland College women's golf team has been elevated to varsity status after one year as a club team. Mike Diehl will continue to coach the squad, which competes in the Centennial Conference.

Milestones: Henry Christowski, Simpson College, 200 wins in softball. Christowski led the Storm to a 42-8 record this season and finished his fifth season at the helm with a 201-33-1 record (an .857 winning percentage). Christowski has posted the most victories by a Division III coach in his first five years on the job. The old record of 191 was set by Chapman University's Janet Lloyd last season. He is believed to be the only coach to win 200 games in his first five seasons in any division of NCAA softball. Since taking over the squad in 1996, he has led the Storm to five Division III tournament appearances, four Division III regional titles, four Iowa Conference championships and two Division III national championships.
