The NCAA Division III Women's Golf Committee, which met June 24-27 in Indianapolis, voted to establish weather guidelines to address potential problems in this area.

The committee put forward a philosophy statement and clarified its policy for championship play, stating that every reasonable attempt would be made to complete the tournament in the full 72 holes. If that is not possible, then a 54-hole total will be used. If that is not possible, the champion would be determined by either a 36-hole or 18-hole total. When that is not possible, the committee will use the original seeding of the teams to determine a winner. The committee will use cuts only as a last resort.

The committee made it clear that play will not be extended beyond the last scheduled day of competition.

Also, the group defined its cancellation and warm-up policies. The committee stated that if no team has completed nine holes, then the day may be canceled. If some teams have finished 18 holes, every effort will be made to finish the round, including continuing on the next day.

The warm-up policy will state that when the weather delay is less than one hour, there will not be an additional warm-up period. Should the delay be longer than one hour, there will be a 10-minute warm-up period.

In other action, the committee:

Established May 7, 2001, as the date of the national conference call to select teams for the championships.

Recommended that Millikin University (2001) and Mount Holyoke College (2002) serve as host institutions for the championships.

Added the following language to the championships handbook: "Results must be reported in one of two ways (only): (1) Complete the forms provided by Golfstat, or (2) Use Golfstat's results software (free of charge)."
