Dates and sites: Regional competition will be conducted May 18-20 at on-campus sites. The eight regional champions will advance to the double-elimination championship finals May 27-June 3 at Patterson Field in Montgomery, Alabama, where Valdosta State will serve as host.

Championship notes: Cal State Chico won its second title in three years, defeating Kennesaw State, 11-5, in last year's championship game. The 2000 championship will be in Montgomery for the 16th consecutive year. North Florida, Tampa, Cal State Chico and Delta State have been near the top of most polls this season
