Championships notes: The Stanford women, who have been undefeated and No. 1 since the first ITA rankings were announced December 7, seem a lock for the championship. But Pepperdine, Georgia, Wake Forest and California are right behind the Cardinal and will try to prevent that from happening. Wake Forest broke into the top five after it handed Florida its first regular-season loss since 1995 with a 5-4 win on March 5. That loss snapped the Gators' 114-match win streak (not counting SEC or NCAA tournament matches). After winning the Rolex women's singles title in February, Stanford's Laura Granville replaced San Diego's Zuzana Lesenarova at the No. 1 singles ranking. Lesenarova had been No. 1 since December 8, 1998. Since then, Washington's Kristina Kraszewski has moved into the No. 1 spot.
