Milestones: University of Georgia women's basketball coach Andy Landers notched his 500th career victory December 29 with a 78-51 win over East Tennessee State University. Landers is 500-149 in 21 seasons at Georgia ...Robin Selvig, women's basketball coach at the University of Montana, recorded his 500th career win with a 66-64 triumph over Boise State University. Selvig's overall record is 500-134. He becomes the seventh NCAA Division I coach to win 500 games at one school ... Louisiana Tech University women's basketball coachLeon Barmore took a fast-break to his 500th career win when his Lady Techsters downed the University of South Alabama January 10. Barmore, who is in his 18th season, reached the milestone faster than any other men's or women's coach in any division. Barmore is now 500-76, which also is the highest winning percentage among Division I men's or women's coaches with at least 10 years of tenure ... University of Virginia men's basketball coachPete Gillen earned his 300th career victory when his Caveliers downed the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, 87-85 on January 18 ... Lamar University men's basketball coachMike Deane won his 300th career game in the Cardinals' 70-63 win over Nicholls State University on January 22. Deane, in his 16th year as a head coach but his first at Lamar, is now 300-164 overall.

Miscellaneous: A Connecticut businessman has donated $1 million to establish scholarships for theUniversity of Connecticut football players enrolled in the university's school of business. Through the university's matching gifts program, the total contribution will be $1.5 million. The donor, Robert G. Burton, is a previous contributor to the school, having endowed a full scholarship at the business school for student-athletes and having contributed more than $2 million toward scholarships in recent years.
