The United States Track Coaches Association has announced the teams and individuals that have earned its all-academic honors for outdoor track and field for 2000.
To qualify, individuals must have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.250 (4.000 scale) and have participated in their NCAA division outdoor track and field championships.
Teams are eligible for the honor if all of its members who participated in the 2000 outdoor season have a minimum 3.100 cumulative grade-point average as a group.
Among the 262 individual recipients are nine student-athletes who won NCAA titles in their respective outdoor championships: Rowan University's Kathleen Darling, Division III women's javelin throw; Angelo State University's Curry Dawson, Division II men's discus throw; University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point's Leah Juno, Division III women's 800-meter run; Gardner-Webb University's David Lloyd, Division II men's 400-meter intermediate hurdles; Abilene Christian University's Oscar Meneses, Division II men's 400-meter relay; Saginaw Valley State University's Mindy Ramsey, Division II women's shot put; University of Northern Colorado's Kim Schiemenz, Division II women's heptathlon; Springfield College's Barbara Swallow, Division III women's 10,000-meter run; and Calvin College's Sara Veltkamp, Division III women's 1,600-meter relay.
