DIVISION I
Dates and sites:
Regional qualifying at nine sites will be November 11. The championships will be November 20 at Iowa State.Field: A total of 255 competitors will qualify or be selected.
Selection date: Thirteen teams will be selected at large November 13. The remainder of the field advances through regional competition.
1999 team champion: Brigham Young.
1999 individual champion: Erica Palmer (Wisconsin).
Top team contenders: Brigham Young, Colorado, Kansas State, Stanford, Wisconsin.
Top individual contenders: Palmer (Wisconsin), Lauren Fleshman (Stanford), Lilli Kleinmann (Arkansas), Hanne Lyngstad (Tulane), Sharolyn Shields-Thayer (Brigham Young), Kara Wheeler (Colorado).
DIVISION II
Dates and sites:
Regional qualifying at eight sites will be November 3, 4 or 5. The championships will be November 18 at Cal Poly Pomona.Field: A total of 184 runners will compete.
Selection date: The field is determined through regional competition.
1999 team champion: Adams State.
1999 individual champion: Marjo Venalainen (Kennesaw State).
Top team contenders: Adams State, UC Davis, Edinboro, North Dakota, Western State.
Top individual contenders: Venalainen (Kennesaw State), Kim Bosen (Adams State), Ashley Hansen (Edinboro), Yvonne Liebig (UC Davis), Rebekah Makie (Western State), Jessica Neva (North Dakota).
DIVISION III
Dates and sites:
Regional qualifying at eight sites will be November 11. The championships will be November 18 at Whitworth.Field: A total of 215 runners will compete.
Selection date: The field is determined through regional competition.
1999 team champion: Calvin.
1999 individual champion: Rhaina Echols (Chicago).
Top team contenders: Calvin, Middlebury, St. Olaf, Williams, Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Top individual contenders: Darlene Amelse (Wisconsin-Oshkosh), Courtney Benningson (Williams), Megan Daymont (St. Olaf), Sarah Gritter (Calvin), Jessica Johnston (Middlebury).
Fact -- There have been only three schools to win team titles in the 19-year history of the Division II championship. South Dakota won the first championship in 1981, Cal Poly the next 10 and Adams State the last eight.
