DIVISION I-AA

Dates and sites: First-round (November 25), quarterfinal (December 2) and semifinal (December 9) games will be played on the campuses of competing institutions. The championship will be December 16 at W. Max Finley Stadium/Davenport Field in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Field: Sixteen teams will compete. Eight conferences have been granted automatic qualification and eight teams will be selected at large.

Selection date: November 19.

1999 champion: Georgia Southern.

Contending teams: Appalachian State, Delaware, Georgia Southern, Portland State, Youngstown State.

Players to watch: Jimmy Blanchard (Portland State quarterback), Tim Johnson (Youngstown State linebacker), Brian McKenna (Delaware linebacker), Drew Miller (Montana quarterback), Adrian Peterson (Georgia Southern running back).

DIVISION II

Dates and sites: First-round (November 18), quarterfinal (November 25) and semifinal (December 2) games will be played on the campuses of competing institutions. The championship will be December 9 at Braly Municipal Stadium in Florence, Alabama.

Field: Sixteen teams will compete. There will be four teams selected in each of four regions (Northeast, Midwest, South, West).

Selection date: November 12.

1999 Champion: Northwest Missouri State.

Contending teams: UC Davis, Catawba, Delta State, North Dakota State, Northwest Missouri State, West Georgia.

Players to watch: Marquis Floyd (West Georgia cornerback), Jason Franklin (Delta State receiver/kick returner), Lamar Gordon (North Dakota State running back), Radell Lockhart (Catawba defensive tackle), Travis Miles (Northwest Missouri State quarterback), J. T. O'Sullivan (UC Davis quarterback).

DIVISION III

Dates and sites: First-round (November 18), second-round (November 25), quarterfinal (December 2) and semifinal (December 9) games will be played on the campuses of competing institutions. The championship will be December 16 at Salem Stadium in Salem, Virginia.

Field: Seventeen conferences have been granted automatic qualification and eight berths have been allocated for independents and for those teams that are members of conferences that do not qualify for automatic qualification. Three berths will be provided for those teams remaining from automatic-qualifying conferences that do not win their automatic berth. The teams will be placed into four brackets of seven based on geographic proximity, whenever possible. The top-seeded team in each bracket will be awarded a first-round bye.

Selection date: November 12.

1999 champion: Pacific Lutheran.

Contending teams: Central (Iowa), Mount Union, Pacific Lutheran, St. John's (Minnesota), Trinity (Texas), Wittenberg.

Players to watch: Casey Donaldson (Wittenberg running back), Chad Johnson (Pacific Lutheran quarterback), Tom Linnemann [St. John's (Minnesota) quarterback], Adam Marino (Mount Union receiver/punt returner), Jeff Sanger [Central (Iowa) linebacker], John-Paul Visosky [Trinity (Texas) linebacker].

Fact -- Eastern Kentucky has participated in 17 of the 22 Division I-AA championships, the most playoff appearances by an NCAA institution across all divisions.
