DIVISION I
Dates and sites:
First and second rounds (four sites) -- Saturday and Sunday, November 11 and 12, on the campus of one of the competing institutions; finals -- Friday and Sunday, November 17 and 19, at Old Dominion.Field: 16 teams; automatic qualifiers and play-ins.
Selection date: November 7.
1999 champion: Maryland.
Contending teams: Maryland, Old Dominion, Wake Forest, Michigan.
Players to watch: Rachel Hiskins (Maryland), Marina DiGiacomo (Old Dominion), Jenny Everett (Wake Forest), Jessie Veith (Michigan).
DIVISION II
Dates and sites:
Finals -- Friday and Saturday, November 3 and 5, on the campus of one of the competing institutions.Field: Four teams; two teams will be selected from each of the North and South regions.
Selection date: October 29.
1999 champion: Bloomsburg.
Contending teams: Bloomsburg, Lock Haven, Indiana (Pennsylvania), St. Michael's.
Players to watch: Leah Conte (Bloomsburg), Tara Beach (Lock Haven), Julie Hess [Indiana (Pennsylvania)], Sarah Alves (St. Michael's).
DIVISION III
Dates and sites:
First rounds (two) -- Wednesday, November 1, on the campus of one of the competing institutions; second and third rounds (four) -- Saturday and Sunday, November 4 and 5, on the campus of one of the competing institutions; finals -- Saturday and Sunday, November 11 and 12, on the campus of one of the competing institutions.Field: 18 teams; automatic qualifiers and at-large bids.
Selection date: October 29.
1999 champion: College of New Jersey.
Contending teams: Lebanon Valley, College of New Jersey, Rowan, Amherst.
Players to watch: Lora Zimmerman (Lebanon Valley), Jackie Conroy (College of New Jersey), Moriah Holstrom (Rowan), Mairin Brady (Amherst).
Fact -- 1999 marked Michigan's first appearance in the Division I Field Hockey Championship. Maryland defeated the Wolverines, 2-1, in the championship game.
