Championship notes: Lynn seeks to retain the championship crown and has started the season with only one loss to top-ranked Barry. Barry, which lost in the first round of last year's championship, is looking to contend for the title and has recorded an 8-0-1 slate so far ... Other contenders include Ashland, which has kicked off its season with a 9-0 record, and Northern Kentucky, which at 12-0 is looking to make its first tournament appearance ... Franklin Pierce has won the most titles with four, and the Ravens won them consecutively from 1994 through 1997. If Lynn wins this year, the Knights would become the third team to repeat. Barry also posted back-to-back titles in 1992-93.
