Division I Men's Cross Country
Field: A total of 255 individual competitors will be selected. Thirty-one teams of seven individuals (with at least two teams from each of nine regions) plus 38 individuals (at least four from each region) will make up the field.
Dates and sites: Regional qualifying at nine sites will be November 13. The championships will be November 22 at Indiana.

Regional results will appear in the November 22 issue of The NCAA News, and championships results will be published December 6.
Championships notes: Arkansas took the lead in team championships after claiming its ninth last year. The Razorbacks, who also have a string of 21 consecutive top-10 finishes, are this year's top-ranked team in the MONDO preseason poll ... Stanford won the team title in 1996 and 1997, finished second to Arkansas last year, and was No. 2 in the preseason MONDO ranking. The Cardinal had an impressive early season performance at the Brigham Young Triple Crown Invitational, as Stanford competitors took the top four spots to easily outdistance a field that included No. 19 Weber State ... Iowa State is the only other institution besides Arkansas and Stanford to win a title this decade. The Cyclones snapped a four-year Razorbacks streak in 1994.
