Field: Thirty-two teams will be selected at large May 9.

Dates and sites: Regional competition will be conducted May 13-15 at on-campus sites. The eight regional champions will advance to the double-elimination championship finals May 22-29 at Patterson Field in Montgomery, Alabama, where Valdosta State will serve as host.

Scores and pairings from regional competition will appear in the May 24 issue of The NCAA News, and championship results will be published June 7.

Championship notes: Tampa won its third title in the 1990s, defeating Kennesaw State, 6-1, in the championship game. Tampa used just three pitchers in the four-game sweep. Kennesaw State, which was the nation's top-ranked team entering the tournament, won a national-record 61 games ... Florida Southern, North Florida, Kennesaw State, Quincy, Central Missouri State, Alabama-Huntsville, Armstrong Atlantic State and North Alabama have been rated in the Top 10 for much of the 1999 season.
