Spring Championships Preview -- Division II Men's Lacrosse

Field: Two teams will be selected to play in the championship game.

Championship notes: This is the second year that that Division II championship has been held at the same site as the Divisions I and III championships. Adelphi, which has played in all but the 1994 title game since the championship was reinstituted in 1993, won last year's title by the largest margin in event history, 18-6, over Long Island-C.W. Post. Adelphi's championship was its Division-record fifth. Adelphi's Sandy Kapatos is the only active coach to have won more than one Division II championship. Hobart's Jerry Schmidt and Adelphi's Paul Doherty (1979), both inactive, also have won two each ... Of the nine different teams that have won Division II championships, only three still play in the division. Of the 11 different teams that have played in the championship game, only three still play in the division.
