Division III Women's Indoor Track

Field: The Division III Championships Committee has approved a qualifying procedure that allows for a maximum of 149 student-athletes.

Dates and site: The championships will be conducted March 12-13 at Ohio Northern.

Championships notes: Christopher Newport repeated as champion in 1998 and in the process won its division-leading sixth title overall. The Captains compiled 31 points, the lowest total for a champion in the 14-year history of the championships. Their three-point margin of victory over runner-up Wheaton (Massachusetts) was the smallest ever. Christopher Newport has finished seventh or higher, including a pair of second-place efforts, in 12 of the 14 meets ... Massachusetts-Boston and Wisconsin-Oshkosh are tied for second in team championships with three each. Wisconsin-Oshkosh also has three runner-up performances and a string of 11 straight top-10 finishes ... Christopher Newport leads in individual championships with 25, nearly twice the total of second-place Cortland State (13). More than half of Cortland State's individual titles have come in the 1,500-meter run.
