Championships notes: Texas broke LSU's five-year string of titles in convincing fashion last year. The Longhorns had four individual champions on their way to 60 points, doubling runner-up LSU's total. The 30-point winning margin was the largest in the 16-year history of the championship. Texas now has four titles overall, second to LSU's eight, but the Longhorns did grab the lead in individual championships with 21 to the Tigers' 19. LSU and Texas both have strings of 14 straight top-10 finishes ... Pittsburgh's Trecia Smith became the eighth student-athlete in the championships to win two events in the same year when she sprung to victories in both the long and triple jumps.
