Assumption's Hickey selected to fill Management Council position

Kevin L. Hickey, faculty athletics representative at Assumption College, has been selected to the Division II Management Council to represent the Northeast-10 Conference.

Hickey, currently an associate professor of geography and global studies, has been on the faculty at Assumption since 1972. From 1986-98, he served as chair of the combined economics and global studies department. He has published articles and book chapters about industrial economic development, ethnic studies, interdisciplinary teaching, and environmental studies.

He is a founder and cochair of the International Interdisciplinary Environmental Association, coeditor of the Interdisciplinary Environmental Review and coeditor of four an- thologies of current cross-discipline environmental articles.

With regard to athletics, Hickey served on the legislative review committee of the Faculty Athletic Representatives Association from 1991-94 and has been a member of the Division II Academic Requirements Committee since 1997. He also serves on that committee's subcommittee on initial-eligibility waivers.

Hickey earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Boston University. He earned his doctorate from Harvard University in 1976.
