Standards modified for women's pole vault

A change to the Division II women's indoor track and field qualifying standards has been made from those published in the September 14, 1998, issue of The NCAA News and the 1999 NCAA Track and Field/Cross Country Rules.

The provisional qualifying standard in the women's pole vault should be 3.10 meters (10 feet, 2 inches), rather than 3.25 meters (10 feet, 8 inches). The automatic standard of 3.90 meters (12 feet, 9 1/2 inches) remains unchanged.

The women's pole vault will be contested in the Division II Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships for the first time in 1999. Consequently, the Division II subcommittee of the NCAA Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee noted the difficulty in determining the standards for the event.
