Office staff selects Bearby as assistant general counsel
Scott A. Bearby will join the NCAA staff in January in the newly created position of assistant general counsel.
Bearby has practiced with the Chicago-area firm of Beckman, Kelly & Smith for six years. His practice areas have included business planning and counseling in a variety of transactional areas, business and construction litigation, and general litigation.
He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1988. As a student, Scott served as international president for Circle K, the collegiate affiliate of the Kiwanis International civic group headquartered in Indianapolis.
He was selected to the 1988-89 Governor's Fellowship Pro-
gram of Indiana under Govs. Robert Orr and Evan Bayh and worked for several Indiana state agencies while serving as a Governor's Fellow.
He graduated cum laude from the Indiana University, Bloomington, School of Law, in 1992.
Bearby's academic note on cable television regulation was published in the Federal Communications Law Journal.
