Cooper selected as director for infractions panels

Shep Cooper has been promoted to the position of director for the Committees on Infractions.

In his new capacity, Cooper will work with the Divisions I and II Committees on Infractions and the Division III Infractions and Student-Athlete Reinstatement Committee in the administration of major infractions cases.

Cooper's appointment was effective November 30. He replaces Rebecca C. Wempe, who resigned in September.

Cooper joined the NCAA staff in April 1990 as an enforcement representative.

Before joining the NCAA staff, Cooper served 10 years of active duty in the United States Marine Corps, primarily as an intelligence officer.

In the last year, Cooper was awarded the Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal.

He is a graduate of the University of Missouri, Columbia.
