Newly announced vacancies

The deadline for submission of completed nomination forms for the following vacancy is January 15, 1998.

Men's Volleyball Committee: One interim (immediate) vacancy. The appointee will replace David C. DeNure, New Jersey Institute of Technology, who resigned from the committee. The appointee may be from any division and it is preferred that the appointee be from the East region. Eligible divisions: I-A, I-AA, I-AAA, II, III.

Division II

Division II individuals may be nominated by peers. Self nominations also are accepted in Division II. A Division II Nomination Form and Division II Nominee Information Form must be completed for each nominee. Nomination materials are to be sent to Julie Quickel, committee coordinator, at the national office (fax 913/339-0035).

Newly announced vacancies

The deadline for submission of completed nomination forms for the following vacancy is January 15, 1998.

Division II Men's Soccer Committee: Five vacancies, effective September 1999. The committee will expand from four to eight members, effective with the 1999-2000 academic year. One appointee will replace Ed Cannon, St. Anselm College, not eligible for reappointment. The five new appointees must be from the following regions: New England, Great Lakes, Central, South, Midwest. At least two of the appointees must be athletics administrators.

The deadline for submission of completed nomination forms for the following vacancy is January 15, 1998.

Division II Student-Athlete Advisory Committee: One at-large vacancy remains on the committee. The appointee must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at a Division II institution, as defined by the regulations of the institution, and must be a student-athlete or a former student-athlete in a Division II sport.

Recently appointed committee/cabinet members

The following individuals recently have been selected to fill vacancies on various NCAA committees and/or cabinets. Please make the appropriate changes in the 1998-99 NCAA Committee Directory.

Committee on Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports: Cindy D. Brauck, head women's volleyball coach, Missouri Western State University, Division II representative.

Division I Championships/Competition Cabinet: Robert J. Brynes, director of athletics, Manhattan College, replacing Richard J. Ensor, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference representative, effective January 1999.

Division I Men's and Women's Tennis Committee: Kevin Platt, women's tennis coach, University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, to the women's subcommittee; Chris Russell, men's tennis coach, University of Oregon, to the men's subcommittee, replacing Matt Anger, University of Washington; and

John McConnell, men's tennis coach, University of Arkansas, Little Rock, to the men's subcommittee, replacing Jean Robert Desdunes, Georgia Institute of Technology.

Division II Baseball Committee: Richard G. Rundles, baseball coach, Carson-Newman College.

Division II Men's and Women's Tennis Committee: Nichole M. Rohr, senior woman administrator, Wingate University, women's subcommittee; and Tina Karwasky, head tennis coach, California State University, Los Angeles, replacing Ann Lebedeff on the men's subcommittee.

Men's and Women's Skiing Committee: Richard A. Goeb, assistant director of athletics, University of Alaska Fairbanks, Division II representative.

Division II Academic Requirements Committee: Richard Cosby, director of athletics, Clark Atlanta University, replacing Ronnie Spry, Paine College.

Division III Women's Lacrosse Committee: Connie Zotos, director of athletics, Drew University in the Metro region.

Division III Financial Aid and Awards Committee: Ellen Shilkret, associate director of financial aid, Vassar College.
