Revisions to compliance software postpone training sessions
Because the layout and design of the NCAA Compliance Assistant software program is changing considerably from the current DOS version, the Compliance Assistant project team will not conduct training for the program at the 1999 NCAA Convention.
The Compliance Assistant software program is in the process of being rewritten into a Windows version.
The current DOS Version 3.5 is being redesigned and enhanced, and the new Windows Version 4.0 will be available for use during the 1999-00 academic year.
Hands-on training of the Windows version will be available at the three NCAA Regional Rules Compliance Seminars in April and May.
Current recipients of the Compliance Assistant will be notified of the Windows version availability closer to the release date of the program.
The data currently stored in the DOS version of the Compliance Assistant will be converted into the Windows version as part of the upgrade.
The Compliance Assistant is a student-athlete database designed to assist individuals in creating and maintaining compliance records and accurately completing forms required by NCAA legislation. The program applies appropriate NCAA Division I and II legislation to data entered into the database and generates specific reports (for example, NCAA squad lists, satisfactory-progress worksheets, eligibility checklists). The program also tracks and reports general student-athlete information (for example, team rosters, address lists) and allows users to create their own reports.
The software and accompanying documentation is free to NCAA members. Questions about Compliance Assistant can be directed to the software-support help desk at the national office.
