Division II Women's Cross Country

Field: A total of 132 individual competitors will be selected. Seventeen teams of seven individuals -- with at least one team from each of six regions -- plus 13 individuals (at least two from each region) will make up the field.

Dates and sites: Regional qualifying at six sites will be November 7. The championships will be November 23 at Kansas.

Championship notes: Adams State made it six titles in six years since joining the NCAA in 1992. Its five scorers finished in the top 13 during last year's event .... Adams State's streak follows a 10-year string of first-place finishes by Cal Poly, which began in the second year of the championships .... Kasia Arient of Lewis became her school's first individual champion in 1997, with teammates Malgorzata Biela placing second and Magdalena Paszta third .... The 1-2-3 finish by student-athletes from the same school was the first in the history of NCAA women's cross country championships .... UC Davis is the only school to qualify for all 17 championships.
