Division II Men's Cross Country
Field: A total of 132 individual competitors will be selected. Seventeen teams of seven individuals -- with at least one team from each of six regions -- plus 13 individuals (at least two from each region) will make up the field.
Dates and sites: Regional qualifying at six sites will be November 7. The championships will be November 23 at Kansas.

Championships notes: South Dakota's 13th appearance in the championships last year was not unlucky as the Coyotes won their first title after finishing no higher than seventh in their previous 12 tries .... South Dakota's crown followed South Dakota State's fifth championship in 1996, the most in Division II men's cross country history .... Teams from Colorado won from 1992 through 1995, with Adams State claiming a three-peat and Western State breaking the string in 1995 .... South Dakota State has qualified for the championships in each of the 40 years it has been contested, placing fifth or better 26 times .... The championships will be held at the same site and on the same day as the Division I championships for the first time.
