Division I Men's Cross Country

Field: The field is increasing for the first time since 1981. A total of 255

individual competitors, up from 184, will be selected. Thirty-one teams of seven individuals -- with at least two teams from each of nine regions -- plus 38 individuals (at least four from each region) will make up the field.

Dates and sites: Regional qualifying at nine sites will be November 14. The championships will be November 23 at Kansas.

Championships notes: Stanford is the two-time defending champion .... If the Cardinal wins this year, it would become just the fifth team in the 60-year history of the championships to claim three titles in a row .... Arkansas has a string of 20 consecutive top-10 finishes, including eight championships and four second-place efforts .... Stanford's three-point victory over runner-up Arkansas last year was the first single-digit winning margin since UTEP edged Oregon, 86-93, in 1979 .... Kansas will serve as host for the first time since a two-year stint in 1965 and 1966.
