Division III Notes
Facilities: Roanoke College's soccer teams recently christened the Elizabeth Campus Outdoor Athletics Complex, the latest addition to the athletics department's facilities at the college, when the men's and women's teams hosted Methodist College. Construction on the new fully irrigated field began in April of this year and was completed in August. Two additional fields are still under construction adjacent to the main field.
Sports sponsorship: State University College at New Paltz recently announced the addition of new varsity teams in women's field hockey and men's and women's indoor and outdoor track. The five new teams will begin competition during the 1999-2000 academic year and will raise New Paltz State's number of intercollegiate sports to 20 (nine for men and 11 for women) ... The women's softball program at Greensboro College will begin varsity competition in the spring of 2000. The college recently hired coach Ben Guiliano to lead the program.
Milestones: Joan Sitterly, State University College at Cortland, 600 victories in volleyball. Sitterly is only the fourth Division III women's volleyball coach to reach the milestone ... Rich Ilsley, Adelphi University, 100 victories in women's soccer.
Miscellaneous: Wittenberg University senior Dawn Reinhardt set the Division III record for kills in a career recently in victories over Oberlin College and the College of Wooster. Reinhardt's career total is now 2,151 kills.
