Committee notices

General committee vacancies in next issue -- Divisions I, II and III committee vacancies, with terms beginning September 1999, will be announced in the September 28 issue of The NCAA News. All interested individuals are encouraged to review the listings carefully to determine eligibility. The deadline for submission of all nominations will be November 20, 1998.

Division I

Division I candidates must be nominated by their institution's multisport conference. The Division I Nomination Form and Division I Nominee Information Form must be completed for each nominee. Nomination materials are to be sent to Julie Quickel, committee coordinator, at the national office (fax 913/339-0035).

Previously listed vacancies

The deadline for submission of completed nomination forms for the following vacancies is September 18, 1998.

Division I Men's and Women's Tennis Committee: Three vacancies. Two vacancies are on the men's subcommittee. The two appointees will replace Matt Anger, University of Washington, and Jean R. Desdunes, Georgia Institute of Technology, both resigned from the men's subcommittee. The men's subcommittee appointees preferably will be from regions 2, 5, 6 or 8. One vacancy is on the women's subcommittee. The appointee will replace Lisa Fortman, formerly of Northwestern University, who retired. The women's subcommittee appointee preferably will be from the Southwest region. One of the three new appointees must be male. No more than two of the appointees may be from Division I-A or I-AA. Eligible subdivisions: I-A, I-AA, I-AAA.

Division I Infractions Appeals Committee: One interim (immediate) vacancy. The appointee will replace David Price, Pacific-10 Conference, who has been named the vice president of enforcement and student-athlete reinstatement at the NCAA national office. Eligible subdivisions: I-A, I-AA, I-AAA.

The deadline for submission of completed nomination forms for the following vacancy is September 25, 1998.

Division I Men's and Women's Golf Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Ginger K. Fulton, formerly of Xavier University, who is no longer at the institution. The appointee must represent women's golf interests and preferably will be from the women's Midwest region. The appointee may not be from Division I-A. Eligible subdivisions: I-AA, I-AAA.

Division II

Division II individuals may be nominated by peers. Self nominations also are accepted in Division II. A Division II Nomination Form and Division II Nominee Information Form must be completed for each nominee. Nomination materials are to be sent to Julie Quickel, committee coordinator, at the national office (fax 913/339-0035).

Newly announced vacancies

The deadline for submission of completed nomination forms for the following vacancies is October 16, 1998.

Division II Men's and Women's Committee: One interim (immediate) vacancy. The appointee will replace Ann Lebedeff, California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, who resigned from the committee. The appointee must represent men's tennis and must be from the West region. The appointee must be female.

Division II Student-Athlete Advisory Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Lucretia Simmons, University of North Florida, not eligible for reappointment. This is an at-large vacancy that can be filled by any full-time undergraduate or graduate student at a Division II institution. The appointee must be a student-athlete or a former student-athlete in a Division II sport.

Division II Nominating Committee: One interim (immediate) vacancy. The appointee will replace Toni Morgan, formerly of St. Paul's College, no longer at a Division II institution.

The deadline for submission of completed nomination forms for the following vacancies is September 25, 1998.

Division II Championships Committee: One interim vacancy. The appointee will replace Robert T. Becker, Saginaw Valley State University, who will retire in January 1999.

Division II Baseball Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace William H. Nash, Wingate University, who is not able to accept the appointment. The appointee must be from the South region.

Division II Men's and Women's Tennis Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Donna Arnold, Presbyterian College, not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from the East region representing women's tennis. The appointee must be a female athletics administrator.

The deadline for submission of completed nomination forms for the following vacancy is October 16, 1998.

Committee on Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspect of Sports: One Division II vacancy. The appointee will replace Ann Quinn-Zobeck, not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be a female coach at a Division II institution.

Division III

Division III individuals may be nominated by peers. Self nominations also are accepted in Division III. A Division III Nominee Information Form must be completed for each nominee. Nomination materials are to be sent to Julie Quickel, committee coordinator, at the national office (fax 913/339-0035).

Division III Men's Basketball: One interim (immediate) vacancy. The appointee will replace Dick Naylor, Hanover College, who resigned from the committee. The appointee must be from the Midwest region and must be an athletics administrator who does not coach men's basketball. The appointee may not be from the Indiana Collegiate Athletic Conference.

The deadline for submission of completed nomination forms for the following vacancy is September 25, 1998.

Division III Financial Aid and Awards Committee: One interim vacancy. The appointee will replace Suzanne Schlager, formerly of Franklin & Marshall College. The appointee must be female and it is preferred that the appointee be a financial aid administrator. The appointee may not be from the following conferences: North Coast Athletic, Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic, Ohio Athletic, Pennsylvania Athletic, Presidents' Athletic, College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, New England Small College Athletic, Centennial or Little East Conference.

Division III Women's Soccer Committee: One interim (immediate) vacancy. The appointee will replace Kristen Ford, Ithaca College, who resigned from the committee. The appointee must be from the New York region and must be an athletics administrator who does not coach women's soccer. The appointee may not be from the Empire Athletic Association.
