Facilities: Construction is being completed on a $5 million renovation project at the University of Maine, Orono. Additions at the school's Harold Alfond Sports Stadium include an AstroTurf field, a 6,000-seat grandstand, luxury sky boxes and a new scoreboard. The facility is expected to be open for Maine's September 12 football game against New Hampshire.

Sports sponsorship: Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University announced that its wrestling team has joined the eight-team Eastern Wrestling League, ending a seven-year affiliation with the Colonial Athletic Association.
