Division I -- Muir named director of basketball operations

Bernard M. Muir, NCAA assistant director of the Division I Men's Basketball Championship since joining

the staff in 1992, has been named director of the Division I Men's Basketball Championship, Operations.

He assumed his new duties August 24.

Muir has served as a liaison between the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee and member institutions and conferences hosting the Division I Men's Basketball Championship. He has been responsible for coordinating site surveys, coordinating meeting arrangements, assisting with aspects of championship ticket operations and men's basketball officiating clinics, managing the Final Four transportation system, coordinating and conducting tournament host seminars, editing host operations manuals, assisting with the site selection process, and performing game-management duties and coordinating team practices.

Before joining the NCAA, Muir was a public relations intern for the Atlanta Falcons, an athletics administrative assistant at Butler University, an academic and compliance assistant at Auburn University, and event director for Streetball Partners International.

Muir is originally from Gainesville, Florida. He received his undergraduate degree from Brown University, where he won four letters in basketball and also served as co-captain. He also has a master's degree in sports administration from Ohio University.
