II/III women's golf modifies criteria
The Divisions II and III Women's Golf Committee voted to reprioritize and revise the criteria used to select individuals and teams to the championships at its June 29-30 meeting in Kansas City, Missouri.
The committee will recommend to the Divisions II and III Championships Committees that the selection criteria be based on the following priorities: (1) head-to-head competition within districts; (2) results versus common opponents; (3) team and individual stroke average and score versus par; (4) strength of schedule; and (5) spring results compared to fall results.
The committee also voted to clarify the advice rule to disallow any communication other than face-to-face conversation and adopted a minimum inseam length of four inches on participants' shorts.
In other action, the committee recommended that the Sunshine State and Lone Star State Conferences host the 1999 and 2000 championships, respectively.
