Wynn retires as senior associate ADMary Jo Wynn retired as senior associate athletics director and senior woman administrator at Southwest Missouri State, effective July 1. She closed her tenure with more than 40 years of service to the school. Wynn initiated women's athletics at the school in 1958 with women's volleyball and tennis. Wynn also taught in the health, physical education and recreation department. She later coached swimming and track. In 1975, Wynn was appointed the first director of women's athletics. She organized the Southwest Missouri State Women's Athletics Hall of Fame and the Women's Alumni Athletes Association. Wynn was promoted to senior associate director of athletics during the 1996-97 school year. A 1953 graduate of Southwest Missouri State, Wynn received the school's Outstanding Alumni Award in 1995. In 1998, the school renamed its top academic award for female student-athletes the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Senior Female Scholar Athlete award in Wynn's honor.
Wynn earned a master's degree from Northern Colorado and a doctorate from Oregon.

NOTABLESBruce Madej named top sport public relations person in the state of Michigan by the Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association.
