Division III -- III men's golf revises practice round schedule
The Division III Men's Golf Committee, responding to a coaches' survey, voted to eliminate a practice round before next year's championships.
Meeting July 14-16 in Kansas City, Missouri, the committee cited a coaches' survey that showed overwhelming support for eliminating a practice round in order to reduce missed class time for student-athletes and cut down on per diem expense. The committee voted to recommend that at next year's championships one practice round be held on Sunday (rather than two with one on Saturday) with first-round play starting on Monday.
The committee also voted to change the pairings for next year's championships so that the teams seeded 1 through 12 will begin play on the first tee while teams seeded 13 through 24 will start play off the back tee.
In addition, the committee will submit a recommendation to increase allocations in District 6 by five and to decrease at-large allocations from 15 to 10.
