Two errors noted in compliance forms
The June 26 mailing of NCAA-required compliance forms sent to the membership contained two errors.
The cover memos for the compliance forms incorrectly indicated the Association's past president and secretary/treasurer -- Eugene F. Corrigan and Phyllis Howlett -- as the senders.
The required forms are the following: certification of compliance, student-athlete statement and drug-testing consent, squad list, and general eligibility for international students.
Since the forms are to be kept on file at the institution and are not required to be sent back to the NCAA, in the future the membership services representatives who update the forms will be designated as the senders.
Also, page 2 of the Division I Summary of NCAA Regulations for the Student-Athlete Statement -- under the Financial Aid Section -- should read as follows:
"Employment earnings--All sports: During your first academic year at the certifying institution, the value of your employment earnings in combination with other financial aid included in your individual financial aid limit, may not exceed the value of a full grant-in-aid.
"Subsequent to your first academic year in residence at the certifying institution, if you are academically eligible to compete, you may receive legitimate on- or off-campus employment earnings in combination with other institutional financial aid (including athletics aid) up to the cost of the institution's full grant-in-aid plus $2,000. Before beginning work, you must sign a statement specifying that the provisions of 15.2.6.1.1 have been met."
The membership services staff apologizes for any inconvenience the errors may have caused.
