Lacrosse panels review women'schampionships
The National Collegiate and Division III Women's Lacrosse Committees met June 9-12 in Kansas City, Missouri, to review issues on their respective championships.
As a result of discussion, the National Collegiate Committee will recommend to the Division I Championships/Competition Cabinet that records of opponents be removed from the list of criteria used for championship selection. The committee also reviewed the concept of allocating championships bids by granting automatic qualification to selected conferences, but determined that it was not ready to recommend that format. The committee will continue to study the subject.
The Division III committee will recommend to the Division III Championships Committee that winning percentage be removed from the list of criteria used for championship selection and be replaced with won-lost record. The committee also will recommend that bids be allocated regionally as follows: New England, 3; Metro, 3; New York, 3; South Atlantic, 2; and West, 1.
