Three Pepperdine players named to water polo academic team
Three members of Pepperdine's men's water polo team, which claimed the 1997 championship, are among the individuals named to the 1997-98 American Water Polo Coaches Association all-academic team.
Andy Bruinninga, Alan Herrmann and Merril Moses are among a group of 99 individuals named to the team. Bruinninga scored the title-winning goal in Pepperdine's 8-7 overtime triumph over Southern California, while Herrmann and Moses shared the championship's most-outstanding-player honors with teammate Jeremy Pope.
Seven teams also were honored, including Princeton, which posted the highest grade-point average at 3.420 (4.000 scale).
The all-academic team is composed of student-athletes who compiled at least a 3.200 GPA (4.000 scale); teams honored compiled at least a 2.750 GPA.
Princeton and St. Francis (New York) placed the most individuals on the team as 10 players from each team garnered academic honors. Bucknell was represented by nine individuals.
