Committee notices
Nominations are being accepted for the following interim (immediate) committee vacancies and vacancies with terms beginning September 1, 1998. Some vacancies are being listed for the first time, as indicated; others previously have been listed.
Division I
Division I candidates must be nominated by their institution's multisport conference. The Division I Nomination Form and Division I Nominee Information Form must be completed for each nominee. Nomination materials are to be sent to Julie Quickel, committee coordinator, at the national office (fax 913/339-0035).

The deadline for submission of completed nomination forms for the following vacancy is April 24, 1998.
Men's and Women's Fencing Committee: One vacancy. Appointee will replace Merry Ormsby, Columbia University-Barnard College, not eligible for reappointment. Appointee must represent women's fencing and must be from the Northeast region. Eligible subdivisions: I-A, I-AA, I-AAA
Division II
Division II individuals may be nominated by peers. Self nominations also are accepted in Division II. A Division II Nomination Form and Division II Nominee Information Form must be completed for each nominee. Nomination materials are to be sent to Julie Quickel, committee coordinator, at the national office (fax 913/339-0035).

The deadline for submission of completed nomination forms for the following vacancy is April 24, 1998.
Division II Women's Basketball Committee: One vacancy. The Division II Nominating Committee has authorized an additional call for nominations for this position, due to a small number of nominations previously submitted. The appointee will replace Pam Gill-Fisher, University of California, Davis, not eligible for reappointment. The appointee preferably will be from the West region and may not be from the Northern California Athletic Conference.

Divisions II and III Women's Golf Committee: One interim vacancy. Appointee will replace Julie Garner, formerly of Rollins College, no longer at a Division II institution. Appointee preferably will be from the West golf district and must be an athletics administrator.
Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Committee: One vacancy. Appointee will replace Frances Nee, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must represent men's swimming interests and must be an athletics administrator.
Division II Men's and Women's Tennis Committee: Four vacancies (including two interim vacancies).
One immediate appointee will replace Andreas Koth, Armstrong Atlantic State University, who resigned from the committee; one immediate appointee will fill an additional position created on the committee with the adoption of 1998 Convention Proposal No. 19. Both immediate appointees must be athletics administrators who represent women's tennis. One must be from the South region and one from the West region. At least one of the immediate appointees must be female.
Beginning September 1998, two appointees will replace Burton Reece, Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, and Donna Arnold, Presbyterian College, not eligible for reappointment. One of the appointees must represent men's tennis and be from the East region. The other appointee must represent women's tennis and be from the East region. One of the two appointees must be female and one must be an athletics administrator.
Division III
Division III is accepting nominations for vacancies on the following committees. Unless otherwise noted, committee terms begin September 1, 1998. Interested individuals can contact Julie Quickel, NCAA committee coordinator, to receive a copy of the Nominee Information Form.

Division III Women's Basketball Committee: One interim (immediate) vacancy. Appointee will replace Curtis W. Tong, Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, who will retire in June 1998. Appointee must be from the West region and must be an athletics administrator who does not coach women's basketball. Appointee may not be from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Division III Men's Lacrosse Committee: One vacancy. Appointee will replace Tom Cafaro, Nichols College, not eligible for reappointment. Appointee will participate only in the administration of the Division III championship and will not participate in rules-making responsibilities. Appointee must be from the North region and must be an athletics administrator who does not coach men's lacrosse.

Division III Membership Committee: One interim (immediate) vacancy. Appointee will replace Howard J. Burnett, Washington and Jefferson College, who will retire in June 1998. The appointee must be from geographic Region 2 and may not be from the Presidents' Athletic Conference.
Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee: One interim (immediate) vacancy. Appointee will replace Michael R. Heithaus, formerly of Oberlin College, who resigned from the committee. The appointee must be male and may not be from the following conferences: Commonwealth Coast, Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic, Massachusetts State College Athletic, Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic, New England Small College Athletic, North Coast Athletic, Presidents' Athletic and Southern Collegiate Athletic Conferences and Empire Athletic, Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic and University Athletic Associations.
Division III Baseball Committee: Two vacancies. Appointees will replace Thomas Fay, St. Lawrence University, and Bruce Wheeler, University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, not eligible for reappointment. One appointee must be from the New York region and one must be from the New England region. Both appointees must be athletics administrators who do not coach baseball. Neither appointee may be from the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Conference or the Little East Conference.
Division III Women's Basketball Committee: One vacancy. Appointee will replace Joy L. Reighn, Rowan College of New Jersey, not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from the Atlantic region and may not be from the New Jersey Athletic Conference.
Division III Men's Golf Committee: Two vacancies. Appointees will replace P. Timothy Brown, Skidmore College, and Judith M. Sweet, University of California, San Diego, not eligible for reappointment. One appointee must be from golf District 1 and one appointee must be from golf District 6. Neither appointee may be from the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Division III Men's Ice Hockey Committee: One vacancy. Appointee will replace Francis T. O'Brien, University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point, not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from the West region (Districts 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8) and must be an athletics administrator who does not coach men's ice hockey. The appointee may not be from the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association.
Division III Women's Lacrosse Committee: Two vacancies (one interim). Interim appointee will replace Donna M. Ledwin, College of Notre Dame, who will resign from the committee effective May 1998. The interim appointee must be from the Central region and must be an athletics administrator who does not coach women's lacrosse. The September 1998 appointee will replace Suzanne R. Coffey, Bates College, not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from the New England region and may not be from the New England Small College Athletic Conference.
Division III Women's Soccer Committee: One vacancy. Appointee will replace Amy Howley Reifert, University of Chicago, not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from the Central region and may not be from the University Athletic Association.
Division III Women's Softball Committee: One vacancy. Appointee will replace Sharon M. Panske, University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from the Great Lakes region and may not be from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Division III Men's and Women's Tennis Committee: One vacancy. Appointee will replace Christine J. Davis, Smith College, not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must represent women's tennis interests and be from the East region. The appointee may not be from the New England Women's Eight Conference.
Division III Women's Volleyball Committee: One interim (immediate) vacancy. Appointee will replace Marilyn V. Hill, University of California, San Diego, who resigned from the committee. The appointee must be from the West region and must be an athletics administrator who does not coach women's volleyball.
Men's Basketball Rules Committee: One vacancy. Appointee will replace Eugene L. Mehaffey, Ohio Wesleyan University, not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from Region 3 (Districts 4 and 5) and may not be from the North Coast Athletic Conference.
Men's and Women's Soccer Rules Committee: One vacancy. Appointee will replace Catherine A. Benton, Emory University, not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must represent women's soccer interests and may not be from the University Athletic Association.
Men's and Women's Rifle Committee: One vacancy. Appointee will replace George T. Brenzovich, King's College (Pennsylvania), not eligible for reappointment. The appointee may not be from the Middle Atlantic States Athletic Conference.
