Division III elects new Management Council members
Four athletics administrators and a chief executive officer recently were elected to the Division III Management Council.
The new members include Donna M. Ledwin, director of athletics at the College of Notre Dame (Maryland); Eugene Marshall Jr., director of athletics at the College of Staten Island; Oscar C. Page, president at Austin College; and Joy L. Reighn, director of athletics at Rowan University.
The fourth administrator is Diane "Dee" Fairchild of Grinnell College, whose election was reported in the February 16 issue of The NCAA News.
All five new members were elected to the Management Council at the 1998 Convention and their terms began immediately after the election.
Following are biographies of Ledwin, Marshall, Page and Reighn.
Ledwin
Ledwin has served as director of athletics at Notre Dame (Maryland) since 1989. Before that, she was the manager of athletics facilities at Yale University.
Ledwin is a member of the Division III Women's Lacrosse Committee, as well as the Eastern College Athletic Conference's Women's Basketball Tournament Selection Committee.
A founding member of the Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference, Ledwin is also actively involved with the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators.
Ledwin received a bachelor of arts from Fordham University and a master of business admini-stration degree from Boston University. While at Fordham, Ledwin competed in varsity tennis and volleyball.
Marshall
Marshall has served as director of athletics at Staten Island since 1996. He also serves as director of the college's Sports and Recreation Center and as women's basketball coach.
Previously, Marshall was at the Pratt Institute of Brooklyn, where he served in several capacities, including director of athletics, intramurals and recreation. Marshall also served there as coordinator of special events and conference services, special advisor to the president for multicultural affairs, head women's volleyball coach and head men's basketball coach.
Marshall received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Northeastern University and a master's degree in educational administration from Kensington University in California.
While at Northeastern, Marshall played varsity basketball, then served as an assistant coach.
He also pursued a career in semiprofessional basketball and was a player, coach and general manager for a semiprofessional team in Roxbury, Massachusetts.
Page
Page has served as president at Austin since 1994. Previously, he was president of Austin Peay State University, and served during his tenure there as a member of the NCAA Presidents Commission.
Page has served on the board of directors of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, Association of Presbyterian Colleges and Universities, Independent Colleges and Universities of Texas and Association of Texas Colleges and Universities.
He also has served on several national committees, including the Commission on Women in Higher Education for the American Council on Education.
Page received a bachelor's degree from Western Kentucky University and a master's degree and doctorate from the University of Kentucky.
Reighn
Reighn has served as director of athletics at Rowan since 1993. Previously, she was director of women's athletics at the university.
Reighn currently is president of the New Jersey Athletic Conference and chair of the Division III Women's Basketball Committee.
She also has served as president of both the New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women and the Collegiate Athletic Administrators of New Jersey.
Reighn has been honored as coach of the year in field hockey, women's volleyball and women's basketball. She was the first woman inducted into the Glassboro/Rowan University Hall of Fame, and she also has been inducted into the South Jersey Basketball Hall of Fame.
Reighn has a bachelor's degree in health and physical education and a master's degree in education from Glassboro State (now Rowan), where she was an athlete and captain in varsity field hockey, lacrosse and basketball.
