Schroeder elected vice-chair of II Management Council

Barbara J. Schroeder, director of athletics at Regis University (Colorado), has been elected vice-chair of the Division II Management Council.

Schroeder, who represents the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference on the Management Council, will become vice-chair September 1, succeeding Clint Bryant of Augusta State University. Bryant will continue to serve as the Peach Belt Athletic Conference's representative on the Management Council.

As vice-chair, Schroeder also will succeed Bryant as chair of the Division II Championships Committee.

Schroeder is in her third year as athletics director at Regis, where she has been on the staff for 17 years. She came to the school as head women's basketball and tennis coach in 1981. She coached the basketball team for nine seasons, compiling a 131-118 record, and also served as associate director of athletics for five years before becoming athletics director.

She was appointed to the NCAA Council in 1995 and then became a member of the Division II Management Council during the Association's restructuring. She also currently serves on the Division II Championships Committee and the Management Council's Infractions Appeals and Waiver Requests Subcommittee.

Schroeder also has served as a member of the Division II Women's Basketball Committee and NCAA Women's Basketball Rules Committee.

She has been an active member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators. She also is a member of the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame Board and has served on the Colorado Girls and Women in Sport steering committee.

Schroeder earned bachelor's and master's degrees at Western Illinois University, where she played basketball and tennis.
