'Hands-on' training for compliance software offered at Convention
NCAA membership services staff members will conduct "hands-on" training for the NCAA Compliance Assistant software program Version 3.4 at the 1998 NCAA Convention in Atlanta.
The sessions will be conducted January 10 and 11 in the Learning Center of the Hyatt Regency Atlanta. Staff members Janet T. Calandro, Carolyn M. Claude and Carrie A. Hagwell will conduct the training.
The purpose of hands-on training is to allow individuals to learn Compliance Assistant by working on the computer themselves. Twenty IBM computers will be available, and two people may be assigned to a computer, if necessary.
The format of the training will be similar to that used for hands-on training at previous NCAA Conventions and regional rules-compliance seminars.
A four-hour "beginner" session will be offered both Saturday and Sunday morning to review all of the modules in the Compliance Assistant. One-hour-and-15-minute sessions also will be conducted in order to focus on a particular module or feature of the program (for example, financial aid information/squad list, ad hoc reporting). A schedule of the sessions accompanies this story.
The four-hour beginner sessions required preregistration and are currently full. Attendance at sessions other than the four-hour beginner sessions will be first-come, first-served (and will not require preregistration).
Letters announcing the training, a description of the sessions to be offered and a preregistration form for the four-hour beginner sessions were sent November 19 to individuals who have received the IBM or Macintosh Version 3.4 of Compliance Assistant, as well as to Division I compliance coordinators and Division II directors of athletics from institutions that have never requested Compliance Assistant.
Individuals who did not receive that correspondence and would like to review the content of the sessions to be offered can contact one of the previously mentioned individuals on campus or call Jeaneen Layton at the national office (913/339-1906).
Hands-on training for Compliance Assistant recently was conducted for approximately 35 individuals in Overland Park, Kansas. The three 1998 regional seminars also will feature hands-on training. One training room with a total of 25 IBM computers will be used at each site. Four-hour beginner sessions will not be conducted at the seminars and, thus, preregistration will not be necessary for any of the classes.
