Conference No. 2
September 30, 1997
Acting for the NCAA Division I Management Council, the Academics/Eligibility/Compliance Cabinet Subcommittee on Legislative Review/Interpretations issued the following interpretations:
Tryouts
1. State, Regional, National or International Training Programs/Competitions. A member institution's coaching staff member may not participate in noncoaching activities (e.g., consultant, on-site coordinator, participant selection) in recognized state, regional, national or international training programs and competitions, except as permitted in NCAA Bylaws 13.12.3.4.1 and 13.12.3.4.2. [Reference: 13.12.3.4 (state, regional, national or international training programs)]
Precollege Expenses
2. Donation to a Two-Year College By a Certified Postseason Bowl. A certified postseason bowl (e.g., Tournament of Roses Association) is permitted to make an annual donation to a prospect's educational institution (e.g., two-year college) for the construction of an athletics facility complex, in exchange for the two-year college making the facility available at no cost for use by a team participating in the contest.
