FARA announces nominees for executive committee
The Faculty Athletics Representatives Association Nominating Committee has announced its slate of candidates for the organization's 1998 executive committee, and FARA is inviting additional nominations from its membership.
The Nominating Committee nominated individuals for five officers' positions and for three positions on the Executive Committee representing NCAA membership divisions or subdivisions.
The slate of officer nominees:
President -- David B. Knight, University of North Carolina, Greensboro.
President-Elect -- Larry R. Gerlach, University of Utah.
Division I Vice-President -- Percy Bates, University of Michigan.
Division II Vice-President -- Diane Husic, East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania.
Division III Vice-President -- Gordon Collins, College of Wooster.
The slate of nominees for Executive Committee positions:
Division I-A -- Daniel G. Gibbens, University of Oklahoma.
Division I-AA -- David Goldfield, University of North Carolina, Charlotte.
Division III -- Michael Miranda, State University of New York at Plattsburgh.
The FARA membership can nominate additional candidates by submitting a nominating petition signed by at least five association members to FARA's president (Knight).
The deadline for nominations is noon Friday, November 4. Voting will occur at the FARA meeting during the 1998 NCAA Convention.
A list of candidates and brief biographical profiles will be distributed to the FARA membership before the Convention.

Legislative Review Committee members are:

Division II -- Robert A. Barrett, Indiana University-Purdue University, Fort Wayne, and Ross Brummett, Carson-Newman College.
Division III -- Beverly Klooster, Calvin College (chair, Divisions II and III), and Glenn Nicholls, Case Western Reserve University.
Communications and Publications Committee members are:
Division I -- Donald W. Bryan, University of the Pacific (California); JoAnne A. Epps, Temple University; Floyd Laisure, Bethune-Cookman College; and Evelyne Weeks, Winthrop University.
Division II -- Les Brinson, North Carolina Central University, and Charles M. Shub, University of Colorado, Colorado Springs.
Division III -- Michael Miranda, Plattsburgh State (cochair), and Edward Streb, Rowan University.
Ex officio -- Vicki Hightower, Elon College (cochair).
