NACDA to administer I-AA athletics directors' organization
The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) has reached an agreement with the Division I-AA Athletics Directors Association to serve as administrator of the organization.
NACDA also administers the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators, National Association of Athletic Development Directors and National Association of Athletic Compliance Coordinators. Additionally, NACDA provides assistance to the National Alliance of Two-Year Collegiate Athletics Administrators (NATYCAA).
The Division I-AA Athletics Directors Association is in its fifth year. The association holds two meetings each year, one at the NACDA convention and one in conjunction with the NCAA Convention.
Officers of the association are Eve Atkinson, Lafayette College, president; Eugene Doris, Fairfield University, first vice-president; Steve McCarty, Stephen F. Austin State University, second vice-president; Marino H. Casem, Southern University, Baton Rouge, third vice-president; Donald L. Lemish, James Madison University, secretary; and John Johnson, Weber State University, treasurer.
"The alliance with NACDA will be extremely beneficial to the Division I-AA Athletics Directors Association," Atkinson said. "NACDA has a professional, full-time staff to handle the daily functions of our operations, freeing our officers and executive committee members to concentrate our efforts on the goals and objectives that will enhance Division I-AA football."
Services provided by NACDA are membership functions, including member solicitation and dues payments, meeting planning, and general administrative duties.
"We are pleased the Division I-AA Athletics Directors Association has chosen to team with NACDA," said Vincent J. Dooley, director of athletics at the University of Georgia and NACDA president. "One of NACDA's missions is to serve athletics directors at all levels of competition. This agreement will allow NACDA to provide additional services to the I-AA administrators."
