a. Amended Bylaw 11.7.5.1 (using its authority pursuant to Constitution 5.3.1.1.1) in the sport of Division I women's basketball to permit three institutional coaching staff members to evaluate prospects off campus during the Amateur Athletic Union women's national championship competition that is conducted during the summer and that is considered an evaluation period pursuant to Bylaw 30.11.2-(k).

b. Agreed to eliminate the requirement that a representative from the Division III Management Council serve on the Infractions Subcommittee of the Division III Eligibility and Infractions Committee.

e. Referred to the Division I Board of Directors for consideration at its June meeting a request from the Big Ten Conference that the effective date of Proposal No. 62 be revised from August 1, 1997, to August 1, 1998.

2. Acting for the Executive Committee, the Administrative Committee upheld the Field Hockey Committee's denial of automatic qualification into the 1997 Division I Field Hockey Championship for the Colonial Athletic Association, but directed the committee to reconsider the criterion that the previous year's championship performance be considered in evaluating each conference (i.e., it noted that more than one year's past championship performance should be considered.)

3. Report of actions taken by the executive director per Constitution 4.3.2. Acting for the Council:

Approved 23 summer basketball leagues (13 for men, seven for women and three for both men and women) per Bylaws 14.7.5.2 and 30.14.
