Executive Committee to discuss budget issues
The emphasis will be on financial matters when the NCAA Executive Committee meets May 6-8 in Pebble Beach, California.
In addition to making a six-month comparison of the budget to actual expenditures for the current fiscal year, the Executive Committee also will do preliminary work on the general operating budget for 1997-98.
The Executive Committee also will discuss new initiatives that appear in the 1997-98 preliminary budget. Other budget-related items include funding for the Division II active-member compliance program, needs analysis for the Division I special assistance fund, electronic voting at NCAA Conventions and a budget request from the Faculty Athletics Representatives Association.
Also, reports will be provided by the following general committees: the Basketball Officiating, Minority Opportunities and Interests, Research and Walter Byers Scholarship Committees and the Committees on Women's Athletics and Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports.
Executive Director Cedric W. Dempsey will report on several matters, including Project 2000 (the NCAA headquarters location), certain staff vacancies and enforcement litigation.
In addition, most of the Association's championships committees will provide reports.
