McNeely, Reith resign positions on Association staff
Michael S. McNeely, NCAA director of operations, and Kathryn M. Reith, NCAA director of public information, recently announced their resignations from the national office staff.
McNeely will become director of athletics at the University of the Pacific (California), while Reith will become public relations manager for women's sports at Nike.
McNeely
McNeely joined the staff in September 1987 as an enforcement representative. He was designated as a compliance representative in July 1988 before being selected as director of operations in August 1990.
He has been responsible for contracts administration, personnel administration, building services, and insurance and risk management, among other things. He also has served as staff liaison to the NCAA Professional Sports Liaison Committee.
Before joining the NCAA, McNeely practiced law. He also is a former assistant football coach at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and has taught in high school.
McNeely is a graduate of Northwestern Oklahoma State University, where he played football. He earned his law degree from the University of Oklahoma.
Reith
Reith joined the staff in January 1994 and has served since as the Association's primary media contact.
She came to the NCAA from the Women's Sports Foundation, where she served as assistant executive director for communications and advocacy. She was responsible for the foundation's publications and public relations efforts.
During her tenure there, she also served as director of communications and director of operations.
At the NCAA, she also served as staff liaison to the NCAA Communications Committee.
Reith is a graduate of Brown University, where she competed on the varsity rowing team for four years. She also has worked for the U.S. Rowing Association, Hands Across America and the Public Broadcasting System's television series "Odyssey."
