Betty Ford sessions set
Another round of NCAA/Betty Ford Professional in Residence sessions begins in April.
Since 1991, more than 250 representatives have participated in the (PIR) program.
Each NCAA institution has the opportunity to send two representatives to a three-day program at the Betty Ford Center. Through participation in the patient experience, the program raises awareness and provides a better understanding of the diseases of alcoholism and drug addiction.
Applications to the program will be sent in early March 1997 to athletics directors and presidents of NCAA member institutions who have not participated in the program in the past.
Following are 1997 PIR program dates and deadlines for applications:

May 6-9 -- April 14
May 20-23 -- April 21
June 3-6 -- May 5
August 26-29 -- July 28
September 23-26 -- August 25
October 7-10 -- September 8
December 2-5 -- November 3
December 16-19 -- November 10
This program is part of the NCAA Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs (ATOD) Program administered through the NCAA sports sciences staff. More information on this or any other ATOD program can be obtained from Elizabeth Binkley, NCAA sports sciences program coordinator, at the national office.
