Cryder named head of NCAA's marketing/licensing group
C. Dennis Cryder, former NCAA director of productions and development, has rejoined the Association in the newly created position of group executive director for marketing, licensing and promotions.
Cryder currently is vice-president of administration/development/broadcasting for the Kansas City Royals baseball team.
"Dennis Cryder brings to the NCAA tremendous knowledge and experience in marketing and promotions," NCAA Executive Director Cedric W. Dempsey said. "He's the right person to help the NCAA expand its programs to promote and market college sports in general, providing support for our member colleges and universities."
Cryder previously served at the NCAA from 1977 until 1983. His responsibilities included administration of the
NCAA football television plan, non-network television rights negotiations and related program production, serving as liaison with the ESPN cable network, and serving as executive producer of sports programming for NCAA Productions.
He joined the Royals as director of marketing and broadcasting and developed the club's marketing department. He also administered television and radio rights.
In 1987, Cryder was promoted to the position of vice-president for marketing and broadcasting. His responsibilities included corporate sponsorships, signage, and advertising and promotional events, as well as negotiating and administering broadcast agreements.
Since 1991, Cryder has been a member of the Royals senior management team as its vice-president for administration/development/ broadcasting. He has been responsible for marketing, promotions, television and radio rights, advertising, human resources, ticket operations, stadium operations, and other areas.
