Team academic awards in soccer are announced
Twenty-eight NCAA member institutions are recipients of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's second annual Team Academic Award.
The award recognizes teams' academic performance during the calendar year. To be eligible, a team must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.000 or higher for the year (4.000 scale).
Only athletes who appear on the official NCAA squad list for soccer for fall 1996 are eligible in calculating the grade-point average.
Four teams earned the award for a second consecutive year, including Muhlenberg's men's team and women's teams from Case Reserve, Connecticut and New Mexico.
The awards were presented at the NSCAA's annual convention January 15-19 in Nashville, Tennessee. Following is a complete list of the teams that earned the award for 1996:
Men's teams
Adelphi, Bucknell, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Muhlenberg, Northeastern.
Women's teams
Adelphi, Bucknell, Case Reserve, Colgate, Connecticut, Creighton, Davidson, Denison, Georgia Southern, Haverford, John Carroll, Marquette, Minnesota-Duluth, Nebraska Wesleyan, New Mexico, Notre Dame (Maryland), Principia, Quincy, Rhodes, St. Peter's, Washington, Williams.
