I track qualifying standards corrected
Three errors were discovered recently in qualifying standards for Division I men's and women's indoor track that are listed in the 1997 NCAA Men's and Women's Track and Field/Cross Country Rules and in the 1997 NCAA Men's and Women's Indoor Track Championships handbook.
In the men's 60-meter hurdles, the provisional standard is 7.95 seconds. It is incorrectly listed as 7.99 in the rules book and championships handbook.
In the women's distance medley relay in yards, the automatic standard on a track of 200 meters/220 yards or less is 11:25.50, while the automatic standard on a track of more than 200 meters/220 yards is 11:23.50. The times are incorrectly listed as 11:26.50 and 11:24.50, respectively, in the rules book and championships handbook.
In a related matter, eligibility and proof-of-performance (POP) forms for the Division I men's and women's indoor championships do not need to be submitted to the meet director at USA Track & Field.
Eligibility forms need only be sent to Bob Podkaminer, NCAA Division I Indoor Championships, P.O. Box 160, Menlo Park, California 94026.
POP forms should be faxed to 415/233-2747.
