NCAA-produced video wins award from IABC
'College Basketball's Crown Jewel' traces Final Fours played in Pacific Northwest
"College Basketball's Crown Jewel," a video produced by NCAA Productions, has won the highest award given by the International Association of Business Communicators' Kansas City chapter (KCIABC).
"Jewel" traced the history of Final Four contests played in the Pacific Northwest. It was shown at the 1995 Final Four salute dinner in Seattle, and also has been featured in the NCAA Hall of Champions.
The KCIABC honored the video with a Bronze Quill Award in the category of Internal Video Production. NCAA Productions produced the video with Hoffman-Wolff Productions of Leawood, Kansas.
In another competition, an NCAA public-service announcements campaign captured Judges Excellence Awards in the 1996 American Advertising Awards conducted by The Advertising Club of Metropolitan Washington, D.C.
The three PSAs, produced by NCAA Productions and Global Exchange, Inc., of Bethesda, Maryland, were developed to educate young people about the consequences of alcohol abuse. The spots were produced as part of the NCAA's commitment to TEAM -- Techniques for Effective Alcohol Management.
TEAM is a 17-member group of organizations formed to help reduce the incidence of drinking and driving.
TEAM members include the NCAA, the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the National Association of Broadcasters and the four major professional sports leagues.
